Abstract

An optical prism 1 comprising a body of transparent material having defined in one surface a conical recess 2 so that light entering the body from 360 DEG around the body is subject to total internal reflection at the interface between the wall of the recess and the environment in which the prism is situated whereby the light which enters is constrained to leave the body through a surface 3 which is opposite to the conical surface. <IMAGE>
