Abstract

The electro-optical passive display device comprises a display cell (1) behind which is situated a lighting device including a light guide (5). A continuous mirror (6) is situated behind this light guide and a two-sided discontinuous mirror (8) in front. This configuration results in the ambient light being reflected in its entirety, either by the anterior face of the discontinuous mirror, or by the posterior continuous mirror. The light rays emanating from the light source (4) are all reflected outwards, either directly by the posterior continuous mirror, or after reflection by the posterior face of the discontinuous mirror. This device can be used in particular in horology. <IMAGE>
