Abstract
199,957. Browne, D. July 10, 1922. Cap-stoppers, bayonetjoint; spring mechanism above closure.-A closure for bottles or other containers comprises a stopper 5 of glass or metal held in the neck of the bottle by a spring 8 which abuts against a cap 10 provided with hooks 13, which pass through grooves in the flange 3 of the bottle and engage in recesses beneath the flange, and projections 12 adapted to engage a flange 11 on the stopper to withdraw it, the hooks 13 and projections 12 being located on either side of the flange 3 and at a distance apart approximately equal to the depth of the flange. As shown, the stopper seats on an inclined face 4 on the bottle neck and on a shoulder 16, but a rubber ring in a groove in a flange on the stopper may seat on the bottle neck.
