Soles; stiffeners.-A metal stiffener for the waists and heels of shoes comprises a stamped plate having at one end prongs 6 with sharpened bentover points 7 adapted to be forced into the waist and at the other end V-shaped projections 8 adapted to be forced under the heel. The plate has a transverse curvature corresponding with that of the waist and is depressed at 10. A turned-up portion 9 rests against the heel breast. In modifications, the stop 9 is dispensed with and the prongs 7 are struck out from the plate a short distance from its end. The plate may be applied on the inner side of the waist.
