199,704. Feaster, E. B., (Assignee of Sahlin, H.). June 24, 1922, [Convention date]. Spindle apparatus.-A flyer for roving, twisting and like machines is formed with a solid metal arm a and a composite hollow arm b, the arm b consisting of a forged metal upper portion 14 and a sheet metal lower portion 39 welded together at 45 and provided with communicating longitudinal slots 25. The forged blank 14, Fig. 5, forming the upper portion of the arm b, is provided with a lug 33, from which the ears 20, 21, Fig. 1, are cut to form the mounting for the usual presser arm. The arm a may be integral with the forged blank 14, Fig. 5, or may be welded thereto. Specification 189,930 is referred to.
