Abstract

199,300. Mangiameli, F. Sept. 11, 1922. Mixing fluids in flow.-The volumes of gases to be mixed are proportioned by regulating the service pressures of the gases automatically and then passing them through separate passages q, q<1>, Fig. 1, in a single obturator p before mixing. When the pressures are equalized, the areas of the passages have the same ratio as the densities of the gases, and this proportion is maintained in every position of the obturator. Gas, such as oxygen, from a cylinder b actuates a diaphragm e which is connected to a lever l, one end of which closes the nozzle f of the cylinder a of the other gas, such as acetylene. The pressure of the lever l is adjusted by a spring m and screw n. In a modification, Fig. 2, the nozzle f has a plug r provided with a pinion t in mesh with a rack t<1> carried by the diaphragm. In a further modification, the plug r has upper and lower pinions engaged by racks carried by the diaphragm.
