Abstract

198,856. Bryson, W., (Hedworth, C.). April 3, 1922. Regulating; alarms; indicating position of internal parts.-Stop and warning devices are actuated when the axial movement of a turbine shaft 1 exceeds a predetermined amount. The shaft 1 carries an extension rod 2, on which is secured a disc 14 carrying three spaced contact rings adaptecl after a certain axial movement to contact with terminals 7, R, 9 and close circuits 10, 11, 12, thereby lighting a red lamp 22, ringing bells 23, 24, and starting an electric motor 25 for closing the throttle valve 30. Hand switches 33, 36 are provided to start the, motor 25 in the event of failure of the contact 9. In a modification, the disc 14 partakes only of the sliding motion of the shaft.
