Packeting by wrapping-up.-Relates to machines for wrapping tablets of confectionery &c. in metal foil &c., and of the type in which folding operations take place in a rotating mould wheel so that partially folded portions of the wrapper at each end of the tablet are caused to project as triangular tabs. According to the invention, a machine of this type is provided with a delivery channel having folders at each side for folding the triangular tabs in succession upon the underside of the tablet. Ejecting fingers are provided which remove the partially wrapped tablet from the mould wheel during periods of rest and make the return stroke during the periods of intermittent rotation; and a resilient pad is provided to press the wrapper into close contact with the tablet. Tablets 19, Fig. 1, are fed into the machine by a plunger 24 and carry a wrapper with them between members 16, 17 constituting open ended pockets, three sides of the tablet being thereby enclosed. One or both of the members 16, 17 may be provided on their bearing surfaces with curved ribs 22 or other configurations, so that when recessed tablets are being wrapped, the ribs bear only upon the stronger edge portions. The members 17 are pressed inwardly by springs 21, the movement being limited by stops 23. A curved guide plate 39 folds the wrapper over the fourth side of the tablet, and folders 42, 42<a>, Figs. 1 and 6, make the end folds shown in Fig. 6. Stationary folding plates 49<a> turn down the folded end portions and the tablet arrives in position opposite a delivery channel 50. Ejecting fingers on bosses 53<a> advance and push the tablets into the channel when the mould wheel 1 is at rest and retire during the periods of rotation and after the parts 16, 17 have passed out of the line of motion. A! part 73, Figs. 1 and 8, of the bottom of the channel is mounted on an arm 74 pivoted at 75 and pressed in position by a spring 77. This part 73 folds the outstanding part of the side of the wrapper on to the bottom of the tablet, and grooves 80, 81, Fig. 9 fold up the end tabs in succession on to the bottom of the tablet. A guard plate 65<b> rests on the tablets in the channel and is kept in position by a screw 70. The completely wrapped tablets are pushed forwards by succeeding tablets past rubber or other rollers 82<a>, which bear on the opposite edges, and arrive in another channel 89 beneath a vertically reciprocating pad 99 which presses the wrapper into close contact with the tablets.
