Abstract

198,388. Hawkins, G. T., and Jones, R. M. Jan. 3, 1922. Superheating-chambers heated by combustion gases.-A rapid steam-generator supplying steam for heating machinery &c., consists of one or more tubes 53 surrounded by a heating device such as a bunsen burner 54 enclosed in a tubular housing 55, the discharge ends of the tubes opening into a superheating chest having tortuous passages and heated by the gases from the tubular housing. The bottom of the tortuous passages 59 formed in the superheating chest by partitions 57 may be closed by a thin copper plate 60. The chest rests upon flange 56 on the pipe 53 and is secured by a nut 58. A cover 62 is placed over the chest.
