Abstract
197,739. Hodges, H. Feb. 18, 1922. Rack stands; umbrella racks.-Relates to stands &c. of the kind constructed of standard units or elements adapted to be assembled in a variety of ways to form structures for displaying or storing goods. Fig. 1 shows a stand for supporting shelves, Fig. 2 a holder for tyres, and Fig. 6 an umbrella stand, but other constructions are possible. Rods or the like a are adapted to carry distance-pieces or sleeves d, and between the distance-pieces are mounted supporting or locating-bars e. The rods a are connected bv flat bars b, and are provided with terminal fittings to bind the parts together, which in the forms shown comprise fly-nuts c. The bars b are provided with a number of holes at equal distances apart, so that composite bars may be formed of two or more bars b, or any two bars may be braced by cross-bars f<2>, as shown in Fig. 2, or the bars b may be used with the bars e to form a ladder-like structure. Rubber shoes or shoes of other material may be mounted at the ends of the rods a.
