Abstract

Rotary distributors; contacts.-A rotary distributor has a metal casing E within which are disposed relatively fixed roller contacts H with their axes radially disposed to the distributor shaft A. The contacts H are mounted within recesses g<1>, in an insulating annulus G and are journaled on pins with enlarged heads d<1>, these pins passing through and being insulated from the periphery of the casing E, their outer ends forming terminal connections D. The rotary contact maker C is pivotally mounted between lugs b<2> of a sleeve B secured to the shaft A. A spring c<2> on the pivot pin b<1> presses the contact member C against the fixed rollers H. Alternatively, a flat spring may be used for this purpose. The contact C may be arranged to rub over the intermediate portion of the ring G while passing between adjacent rollers, the surface of this ring being slightly below the common tangent plane of the rollers, or. alternatively, a stop c<3> may be provided on the member C in order that it shall clear this surface during its rotation. The casing E is provided with a timing lever e<2> and a retaining spring f<2>.
