Abstract
197,284. Aktiebolaget Ljungstr÷ms Angturbin. May 8, 1922, [Convention date]. Regenerators. - In a rotary regenerator for boiler plants of the kind in which the air to be heated and the hot flue gases are forced by fans alternately through the same passages of a rotary regenerative mass, the air and gases are caused to pass through the regenerative mass in a radial direction. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the rotary regenerative mass 1 is disposed between cylinders 2, 3 attached to a shaft 4 driven through reduction gearing from the shaft 6 on which fans 5, 7 are mounted. Air enters the apparatus axially as indicated by the arrows 12, 13 and passes radially through the regenerative mass 1 to the outlet 14. Hot gases enter through an inlet 30 and pass radially 'through the regenerative mass 1 to the outlet containing the fan 7. If desired, the course of the air and gases may be reversed. A sealing-plate 23 on each side of the apparatus prevents flue gases passing into the air channel and vice versa. Partitions 22 divide the gases into a number of separate currents. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the space within the rotary regenerative mass is divided by a fixed partition 20 separating the air and waste gases.
