Abstract
197,235. Haimberger, T. F. von, and Wirth, J. K.. July 11, 1922. Moulding tubes.-Tubes are given an internal covering of insulating material by first coating with an adhesive layer of phenol-formaldehyde condensation product, then with asbestos pulp. and finally impregnating the asbestos with the condensation product. Apparatus for applying the asbestos consists of a tube C supplied with pulp by a worm B in a hopper A. The tube D to be coated is coated with the adhesive and slid over the tube C. The open end is fitted with a cap E, adapted to slide on a stationary mandrel F. The pressure of the pulp causes the tube D to move. along the mandrel carrying with it a lining of asbestos. The movement may be retarded by means of a weight G or other braking means. Liquid expressed from the pulp is carried away bv channels in the mandrel. Both the tube C and the mandrel may be provided with worm-like projections and may rotate on their axes.
