Rearing-appliances. - A fostermother has a flat cover 2 with an aperture 3 for the insertion of a lamp 4 to be supported upon a flange 14 or the like. The cover forms a double flue, the lower part 10 receiving flue-gases from the perforations 9 and communicating by means of several apertures 11 with the upper part 12 in which outlet apertures 13 are formed. The lamp reservoir is surrounded bv an air-chamber 18 with inlet openings 19<a>, 20. From this chamber air passes through perforated plates 19, 21 to the burner 5, and through pipes 17 to the upper chamber 8, which also receives the flue gases. Additional air reaches the burner through apertures in a surrounding plate 22 and cone 26. The chimney 6, 7 is telescopic to give access to the burner. An air inlet 23 below the lamp may be covered with a perforated plate 24.
