Abstract

196,735. Binns, W., and Mander, J. D. Feb. 13, 1922. Addition to 136,861. Doffing - arrangenients. - In the arrangement described in the parent Specification, wherein the doffing - apparatus is mounted on a frame running on overhead runways longitudinally of and transversely to the spinning-frames and is adapted to be lowered to operate upon individual frames, the frame 1 carrying the doffing-apparatus is pivoted about a central spindle 5 so that it can be turned to operate successively on frames arranged face to face or at an angle to each other. The spindle 5 is mounted on a carriage 6 on a rail 9, movable upon rails 7 at right-angles to the bank of frames. The carriage may be transported along the rail 9 to operate upon a bank of frames 10 on the other side of the shed. During operation the doffing-apparatus engages guides 4 as described in Specification 178,478. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that the doffing-apparatus may be rigid with the carriage and the runways so arranged or provided with turntables to effect its reversal.
