Abstract

Oct. 10, 1921. , Electrolytes; electrodes.-The electrolyte of a storage battery consists of a solution of the perchlorate of the metal forming the active material. the support for the active material consisting of a metal or alloy such as ferro-silicon, which is inert with respect to the electrolyte. The electrolyte consists of a solution of lead nerchlorate of a concentration corresponding to 40 per cent of metallic lead. The positive electrode of ferro-silicon is placed horizontally at the bottom of the container and carries a quantity of lead oxide corresponding to the metal content of the electrolyte. The negative electrode consists of ferro-silicon or other metal or alloy. In another example, the electrolyte consists of a solution of copper perchlorate of a concentration corresponding to 13 per cent of metallic copper, the positive electrode carrying a corresponding quantity of copper oxide.
