Abstract

193,950. Burrows, R. W., and Forrester, J. H. W. Nov. 29, 1921. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Coating ropes, wires, &c. with liquid materials. -A wire rope 1, parsing to a winding-drum, runs between sheaves 3, 16 which have radial passages therein. The upper sheave 16 is fed with oil from a flexible pipe, 15 connected to a perforated spindle 14. The lower sheave 3 turns on a spindle mounted in a bracket 5, which is resiliently supported in an oil-bath 9. The spindle 14 is carried in a member 13 detachably secured by pins 12 to the bath 9, so as to allow of insertion of the rope between the sheaves. The bath slides on a guide-frame 17 as the effective diameter of the winding-drum varies, and this frame is traversed axially of the drum by a rack and pinion.
