Automatic - feed weighers. - fn an automatic weighing- machine a device for controlling the intermittent supply of material from the feed hopper to the weigh pan comprises a pivoted feed gate for arresting and releasing the material a trip dog mounted on the weigh beam to engage directly in the upstroke of said beam with a trip lever actuating an arm of, and thereby opening, the feed gate; a hook-shaped catch lever engaging and maintaining the feed gate in the open position and a trip dog adjustably mounted on the weigh beam to engage directly on the down stroke of the beam, with a catch lever thereby allowing the feed gate to close by gravity. The feed gate 23 is retained in the open position by a catch or lever 24. On the descent of the weigh beam 1, an adjustable pin 26 thereon releases the catch 24 and the feed gate falls and arrests the flow of material down the shoot 21. On the return of the weigh-beam a hook 27 thereon actuates a lever 25 and re-starts the feed by pressing back an arm 28 secured to the feed gate.
