Abstract

Hulls, cleaning.-In machines for cleaning ships' hulls of the kind comprising a turbine driven rotating brush 2 formed on the exterior of a cylindrical air container 1 serving as a buoyancy member, the size of the container and hence of the brush is kept within reasonable limits by the provision of an auxiliary buoyancy chamber 5. The turbines 3 driving the brush are arranged at either end of the spindle and the reaction of the discharged pressure water presses the brush against its work. The gearing driving the brush are enclosed in casing 4 serving as supports for turbines and are provided with fittings for branch pipes for pressure water passing to the turbines.
