Retaining-devices in receptacle neck above closure; stoppers seated by gravity; capsules and like closures.-The mouth of a glass or like container for food-stuffs &c. is formed with an upstanding rim 2 surrounding a ledge 3 on which rests an internal lid 4 formed of the same material as the container, or a similar material, and an external metal cover 6, resting on a packing- washer 8 on the top of the rim, is secured to the rim by a metal band 9 to seal the contents hermetically. The lid 4 lies wholly within the recess formed by the rim 2 and may rest on a washer 11, a spring 12 being provided or the centre of the cover 6 being slightly dished, if desired, to hold it in position.
