Abstract

192,282. Metcalfe, R. M. Feb. 2, 1922. Planimeters. - A planimeter consists of two arms a, b, at rightangles to each other. One arm e has a tracing point d and a supporting pin c, and is pivoted to the arm b at e for folding purposes. The other arm b has a scale and a spindle f, a roller g being arranged to rotate on and slide along the spindle f, and being provided with a vernier h. In use the gin c is caused to move in a straight line, say, along the edge of a T-square, or, alternatively, it is caused to move in an arm of a circle by means of a radius rod.
