Window frames; casements; hinged-sliding windows. - A metal bar for windows, window frames, &c. has a number of stepped webs on one side and a single flange or web on the other side, so that reversed bars are available for joint-forming production, which brings oppositely-trending flanges or ribs into alinement. The three webs a, b, c on one side have their edges in a plane which meets the centre plane w-w of the bar at 20 to 40 degrees, and the single rib d on the other side has its centre in alinement with a face of the intermediate web on the other side. The windows may be hinged or pivoted, or may slide; or a hinged window may have a sliding sash, in which case the web d of the window frame serves with an angle bend to keep the glass in place, and the web d of the sash-bar c guides the sash. The cross-bars may be of T-section and fit into cranks in the webs d, Fig. 6, Rain-shields or weather-bars may be fitted to the windows so that the rain drips into a receptacle at the bottom of the window frame which supports the bottom bar of the window.
