[Cognate Applications, 17,531/15, 17,935/15, and 18,206/15.] Tobacco pipes and cigar and cigarette holders. -In Fig. 1, a perforated metal plug 1 and a wire coil 3 are shown arranged in the lower part of the bowl, which is formed with a recess 4 to produce a whirling motion of the smoke, and a double wire coil 8, 9 or cut metal spiral is arranged in the mouthpiece and bore of the pipe and in contact with the coil 3. Recesses 17 .. 20 are formed in the bore to receive moisture. Air is admitted to the bowl through holes 5, 6, and to the bore through a split washer 15 and hole 14 when the mouthpiece is pulled out slightly. Additional ribs 24 may be provided to be gripped by the teeth to prevent saliva from entering the bore. A cap consists of wire-gauze 21 in a ring 22 with spring tongues 23. Absorbent chemically - treated material may be placed at the bottom of the bowl and between the spirals 8, 9, and the plug and core may be made of different metals or materials to produce chemical action. The recess 4 may be formed by inserting rings in the bowl. Fig. 4 shows a cigarette-holder with air inlets 38, a spike 36 to enter the cigarette, and recesses 39 in the bore. Fig. 5 shows a. pipe with a spiral lining 47, a perforated plug 48, a gauze strainer 40, a sliding or rotary-sliding piston 43, and rubber rings or springs 45, 46.
