Pistons. - Relates to trunk pistons having packing-rings of ordinary form and also guiderings at intervals along the skirt. The piston is made of aluminium or like metal having a coefficient of expansion different from that of the cylinder, is made of smaller diameter than the cylinder, and is provided with packing-rings b' of any known form. It is further fitted with guiderings b, which are made of another metal, such as cast iron or steel, and as thin as possible, and are provided with strengthening-flanges b<1> which fit into grooves in the piston.
