Abstract

Kinematograph apparatus and systems; optical-projection apparatus.-Apparatus for producing or projecting kinematograph pictures comprises a continuously-moving film, an optical system including a lens movable with the film, and a non-moving optical system, means being provided to limit the extent of the image produced by either system, and such image being projected by the other system. Fig. III shows a camera in which an optical system 8 movable only for focusing adjustment produces an image on a blackened partition 5 having an aperture or a translucent screen 7. The image limited by the partition is projected on to the film 1 in the gate 14 by an optical system of fixed focus and such as is described in Specification 16200/15, the system comprising a large fixed lens 10 and small lenses 2 carried by an endless chain 16 passing round upper and lower drums, and the lower drum and the film being driven by a crank 18. The lenses 2 are exposed through an aperture 11, which may be large enough to allow several of them to be exposed simultaneously. A similar arrangement of parts may be provided in a projection apparatus.
