Abstract

14,746. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., and Archer, C. H. Oct. 19, Resistances for heating. Wire or tape is laced over pegs &c. on two or more refractory bars of an open frame. The wire may be of nickel chromium, coiled or straight, and the bars of fire-clay, silica or asbestos. The pegs may be integral with the bars, or metal studs or split-pins may be inserted in holes in the bars. As shown in Fig. 2, the bars A have passages M in which metal rods may be inserted for strengthening, and are connected at the ends by metal brackets K forming terminals. The coiled wire D is wound over the pegs B and is secured by additional pegs C. As shown in Fig. 6, additional pegs W may be formed with teeth for greater security. As shown in Fig. 4, the bars may be united at the ends by integral webs K; these are extended and slotted for the reception of fixing-screws.
