Abstract
104,257. Switchgear & Cowans, and Neep, G. H. April 25, 1916. Fusible cut-outs. - Magneti blow-out fuses have two or more fusible elements in parallel to blow in succession, and a blow-out coil in circuit with the last element to blow. Two overlapping elements b, b<1> are shown, the former b being connected between the terminals a, a<1>, and the latter b' between the terminals a, a<2>. One end of the copper strip g forming the blow-out coil c is connected to the terminal a<2>, and the other end is connected to a sleeve h clamped in a bracket j on the terminal a<1>. The terminals a, a<2> are provided with arcing-horns d, d<1> enclosed by asbestos shields q, baffles s, t, and a sheet of mica r. More than two fusible elements may be used with a corresponding number of coils; or a single coil may be connected in series with a number of parallel fusible elements of different resistances.
