Abstract

13,579. Dickson, W. Sept. 24. Propelling.-In propellers having paddles or vanes at the ends of a transverse shaft 8, this shaft is journaled freely in a head-piece carried by the central driving-shaft 2, aud a curved two-armed cross-head 6, Fig. 2, is mounted so that its ends ride on the adjustably fixed cam 3 ; or, alternatively, the shaft 8 carries a bevel-wheel 10, Fig. 6, which gears with a smaller bevel-wheel 11 adjustably fixed to the framing 4. The vanes are formed of reticulated material arranged in frames.
