Abstract

13,088. Guinness, K. E. L. Sept. 13. Sparking-plugs.- in assembling the parts of a plug, a copper or other metal ring 4 having curved surfaces is placed over a copper-asbestos washer 11 and compressed so as to flatten the surfaces of thering and force it into close contact with the electrode 1 or casing 6, from one of which it is insulated by mica wrappings or linings 3. Mica washers 12 are retained by a metal piece 13 secured to, or integral with, the electrode 1. Another set of washers 15 is held by the clamping- nuts 16, 17. The earth terminal 18 consists of a transverse bar. The metal ring may be insulated by mica from both casing and electrode, such a construction being applicable to double-pole plugs.
