11,148. Tucker, C. L. W., and Vaughan Engineering Works. July 31. Lathes. - A turret lathe is provided with a traversing mandrel and with a tool turret in the form of a ring rest on a bar bed. The mandrel d carries between collars a loose pulley e having a dog co-operating with a dog f on a collar f<1> splined to the spindle and movable by a hand - lever, and by a dog-rod t. The mandrel carries lead-screws h, h<1> differing in pitch, and a twoarmed hand - lever k straddles double-armed levers carrying nut segments. In the central position, neither nut is operative; but on moving the lever k to the right or left, the corresponding nut segments are cammed into engagement with their screw. The turret consists of a disk l with a hub rotatable on the bar bed a and clamped by a handled screw p and washer p<2>. The outer part of the disk l is separate from the inner part, forming a complete circular slot r in which the toolholders q are adjustable. The shanks q<1> maintain concentricity of the parts, which are locked together when the tool-holders are clamped at q<2>. The periphery is grooved to receive a number of adjustable micrometer stops n' grooved to engage an index bolt o pivoted at o<1>. Dogs s adjustably located in a groove in the turret actuate the rod t to provide a stopmotion. Adjustment for depth of cut in screwcutting may be provided for by arranging the pivot o<1> as an eccentric.
