Abstract
9859. Peranne, J. B. E. A. July 6. Stamping; metal-working presses.-The intermittent rotation of a turret 1, Fig. 1, carrying blanks in recesses 2, is produced by a pawl 65 on an oscillating ring 10 which also actuates the work feeds and the tools for performing successive operations, such as cutting, dishing, embossing, filling, forming, moulding, perforating, pressing, punching, shallow drawing, shearing, stamping, &c. The ring 10 is oscillated by arms 54 and bevel-gear 57 and has a double cam-face 20, Fig. 2, which reciprocates sleeves 28, 32 on a cylindrical hopper 25 by means of levers 15, 16. The sleeve 32 first moves up and allows springs 30 to withdraw fingers 29 which are then moved up by the sleeve 28; the sleeve 32 then moves. down to close the fingers behind the lowest disk 50, and the sleeve 28 finally moves down and forces the disk from the holding-springs 27 into a recess 2 in the table 1. For one kind of button, pieces of cloth are fed into the disks and pushed through the hole therein by the next tool. Cardboard disks may then be added. The disks 50 are finally raised by their ejector pins 4, Fig. 6, actuated in turn by a lever 8 engaged by a cam-slot 21 in the ring 10 and removed from the table by an arm 23, Fig. 1, actuated by a cam 36, for completion in another machine. Before ejection, a face-disk and a channelled ring may be added and clamped by further tools. The vertically-moving tools are operated, as shown in Fig. 3, by screw spindles rotated by gears 13, which engage a toothed ring 11 carried by the ring 10. The standards 17 supporting the tools are interchangeably mounted by means of holes 61, Fig. 8, in the base 6 and are shaped to bring the tool over the position required.
