8929. Wilson, W. A. June 17. Armour.-Screens for deflecting projectiles comprise plates a mounted to turn freely on shafts b which are arranged at an adjustable distance from the sides of a vessel. An orifice, which may be closed by a hinged cover is cut in each plate to permit the passage of torpedoes from the protected vessel. Each plate is flanged on its upper side.
