Abstract

May 31 Periscopes; telescope systems.-Panoramic periscopic sighting-telescopes have as the central element a rigidly-supported main tube i carrying within it the object-glass b and diaphragm c, bearing the sighting-marks, and having mounted on it a sleeve carrying the first reflecting surface a within a cowl j; a reflecting system d, eyepiece e, and rotatable erecting- prism f are mounted at the bottom end of the main tube i. The reflecting system d consists of two right-angled prisms as shown in Fig. 2, and may be interchanged with the simple reflector a. The sight is mounted on a bracket 3, Fig. 8, by means of a stop w on the base of the wormgear casing n fitting into an aperture in a spring-pressed bar x, the upper end of the tube resting against cheeks y, and the lower coned end being received in a bearing 1.
