Buoyant fittings.-A life-saving mattress or like raft is formed of a fabric casing divided into a series of compartments each stuffed with kapok, silk floss, or like buoyant material The casing 1, which may be made of waterproof and fire-proof fabric, is formed with continuous top and bottom surfaces and is provided internally with a series of partitions 6 stitched to the top, bottom, and side walls. The partitions may be arranged transversely, as shown, or longitudinally or in both directions. Suitable holding-straps 7 are secured to the top and side surfaces at the points where the partitions are joined to the main fabric.
