2689. McCune, F. H. Feb. 19. Washing-machines with axially-moving plungers and with pumps for circulating liquids. - The apparatus comprises a clothes-receiving chamber 1 formed between a readily-separable plunger appliance and stand. The stand carries a grid 3, which forms the base of the chamber, and rests in a tub on legs 19, which are braced by tie-rods connected to a common central hub 21. The plunger appliance rests on the stand and is fitted with spaced parallel bars 6 in its lower conical portion to form the upper wall of the chamber. The apparatus is steadied by the handle 16 while the plunger is operated to force the water in the tub through the chamber in opposite directions alternately.
