Atmospheric gas burners.-A burner not subject to back-firing comprises an expansion chamber having one or more relatively large flame openings, the total area of which is large in comparison with the total area of the one or more orifices through which the combustible mixture enters the chamber, and on which the flame might normally burn. In the construction shown, a wide flame slot is formed between a cover 8 and the expansion chamber 6, to which the mixture is supplied through an opening 2. Dimensions are given in the Specification.
