Abstract

2344. Beaver, C. J., and Claremont, E. A. Feb. 13. Clips, band.-A band clip for securing a wire to the metal armouring of an electric cable consists of a metal strap b which encircles the armouring a and has its ends threaded through a narrow longitudinal slit c' in a metal bar c, formed with a socket d to receive the wire and shaped, underneath, to conform to the contour of the armouring, the ends of the strap being finally secured between a wedge shaped bar e, which may be roughened, and a collar f, as shown in Fig. 2. The bars c, e are drawn apart so as to tighten the strap, at the same time increasing the grip on its ends by screws g threaded in the upper bar and bearing in recesses in the lower bar which, by reason of the narrow slit, takes the tightening strain of the screw so that no undue local strain is sustained by the armouring itself.
