Abstract
24,122. Fillettaz, E. Dec. 16, 1913, [Convention date]. Turning - gear. - A shaft 1 carrying one part of a claw clutch 10, 11 is moved axially to close the clutch and to open it on a premature ignition by spring- pressed balls 8, carried by a stationary housing 9 and engaging grooves 6 in the shaft. The shaft is rotated from the driver's seat by a cord 16 acting through an eccentric wheel 15 carried by a hub 5, a oneway clutch 17 being interposed between the wheel and hub. The hub is on a squared part 3 of the shaft. The cord is first pulled slowly to cause the balls to move the shaft axially. It is then released, a returning-spring 20 bring- ing the wheel back. The cord is then given a sharp pull, which causes turning of the engine shaft, the balls 8 being pushed into their housings as the parts between the groove pass under them.
