Abstract
23,501. Strowe, S., and Bradley, A. B. Dec. 3. Boats, ships, and floating toys.-The invention consists in forming a floating toy with a loosely connected part which, when shot away or displaced, allows the toy to sink. The toy may be made in the form of a ship, or a bird or other animal, and is provided with two holes, one a' in the lower part and the other in the upper part, on the flat upper surface b<1> of the conning-tower, for example, when the toy is made as a submarine boat. A flat plate c carrying a periscope c<1> and a flag c<2> rests on the surface b<1> and prevents air from escaping through the upper hole, thus permitting the boat to float. If a projectile strikes either the periscope c<1> or the flag c<2>, the plate c is displaced, air escapes through the hole, and the boat sinks. When the toy is made to represent a bird or other animal, the neck may be formed in two parts, the lower part having a flat plate provided with an aperture, and the upper part forming the closing-plate.
