Abstract
17,048. Kendrick, K. A., Lodge, F. T., and Blakely, C. July 18. Regulating delivery by varying speed and power of motor. -- The supply of steam to a boiler feed-pump is controlled by a rotary valve controlled by a piston under the pressure of the pump delivery. The piston 47 is also acted un by a spring 55 and is connected to a lever 34 having an adjustable fulcrum 36. The valve is secured to a shaft 22 provided with a crank 29 connected by a link 32 to the lever 34. The working parts of the apparatus are enclosed within a single fitting. A handoperated valve is placed between the pump and the boiler and is such that, on opening or closing it, the pump is started or stopped by the effect of the pressure of the delivery on the piston 47.
