Bottles, washing.-Relates to bottle-washing machines, of the kind in which the bottles are placed over internal water-fed brushes carried by rotary radial arms fixed to a central shaft and, while being carried round bodily through a tank in contact with fixed bottom-cleaning brushes, are rotated axially by frictional contact with external brushes on a disk, and consists primarily in fitting a cam-disk to oscillate the bottles laterally on the internal brushes. Fig. 2 shows one construction of machine in which the bottles are placed over the brushes h and are sprayed through the conduits c from the pipe f. The brush-carrying arms are mounted on a central shaft rotated by a pulley q so as to carry the bottles through the tank a in contact with fixed bottom-cleaning brushes m. During this movement, the bottles are rotated axially by contact with the brush-carrying disk k and are oscillated by cams p on a second disk o. The disks k, o are mounted on separate sleeves, and either or both of them may be fixed or rotated from the corresponding pulleys r, s. The disk o may be adjusted laterally on the shaft to accommodate bottles of different size. The apparatus may be arranged to work on a vertical shaft instead or an horizontal shaft as in the construction shown.
