Abstract
12,325. Explosions - Turbine- Studien Ges. Oct. 29, 1913, [Convention date]. Oils and spirits for burning; lubricants for machinery.-Liquid fuel for internal-combustion engines consists of an emulsion of an oil in water, to which maybe added alcohols such as amyl alcohol. An emulsifying-agent,such as soap, saponin, caustic soda or potash, ammonia, sodium carbonate, or gum, is added. Crude petroleum, and its distillation-products, crude petrol, lamp petroleum, the products of distillation of asphalt, bitumen, coal, lignite, peat or wood, may be used. Oleic acid may be dissolved in the oil, and soda, potash, or ammonia be added to form a soap. The fuels lubricate the piston and enable separate lubrication to be reduced or dispensed with. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also (1) the use of a temporary emulsion of oil or tar and an immiscible liquid made in a mixing- device attached to the engine, (2) fatty oils, such as rape oil and linseed oil may be emulsified, (3) soaps formed from the fatty acids of castor, linseed or whale oil may be used as emulsifying-agents, and (4) substances such as carbon bisulphide may be added to the oil to bring its specific gravity near to that of water. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
