Abstract

7367. Lambie, F. D. March 23. Moulding buildings in situ.-A complete story of a concrete building is cast between an exterior mould consisting of panels 1 with perforated abutting flanges secured by locking-bars 6 engaging in notches 5 and by slotted keys 3 and wedges 4, and an interior mould of inverted box formation, the sides of which are similarly constructed to those of the outer mould and support the mould for the floor. The sides and ends of the exterior mould are connected by tie-rods 20 connected at the points of intersection by unions and form(d in sections, which are connected by turn-buckles 22. The end sections may be removed when the concrete is set, the remaining sections being left embedded. Mould plates 10 forming a belt course are secured to the top of 'the exterior mould and receive the ends of the tie-rods, the plates 10 being secured either flush or offset with respect to the panels 1 and serving to support the mould for the succeeding story. The floor mould is formed of flanged plates 1<11> supported on I-beams 32 resting on the locking-bars 27 at the upper end of the interior mould, and raised by wedges 33. The ends of the floor moulds are formed of release plates 35 secured by slotted keys and wedges to the top flanges of the wall mould. Pilaster corners are formed at the wall corners by offset mould plates 15 and small mould plates 12 which are secured to the mould panels 1. Chimneys are cast by mould panels arranged in the interior mould, and door and window openings are cast in the walls. Most of the wall plates 1, 1<1> may be removed before the concrete of the walls is completely set those remaining in place support the I-beams 32 and ceiling plates 1<11> till the floor is sufficiently set.
