Prizing-tools; cramps. -A device for compressing the valve spring bf an internalcombustion engine, when it is desired to remove the valve, consists of a series of pivoted links a 'forming a lazy-tongs and having the two ends b turned parallel to each other so that they may be inserted between the valve spring collar and the top of the cam rod. By compressing the links a, the spring is lifted and the cotter may be removed. A pivoted catch plate d has recesses g, e which may be engaged with a pivot pin f to hold the tongs either partly or fully compressed.
