Abstract

7054. Mycock, W. March 20 Drying fabrics; rollers or cylinders, hollow.-In a machine for drying fabrics, comprising a series of steam-heated cylinders, the " doll heads " wherein the trunnions of the cylinders are mounted are bolted together to form the columns of the framing carrying the cylinders. As shown, the doll heads B are of uniform size and are formed with flanges b whereby they are secured together and to the steam-pipe C or the frame carrying the steam-pipe. The uppermost doll heads are fitted with blank flanges to which crossbars e are secured, so that the columns are supported by rods d<1> screwed into a framing D and carrying washers e<1> fitting in the cross-bars. The screw rods serve to lift the cylinders when it is desired to remove any of them. The trunnions are fitted in stuffing- boxes, and a stuffing-gland cage G, Fig. 3, is provided held in place by a set-screw and maintaining the packing tight.
