Abstract

6404. Mason, S. J. March 13. Tops for spinning on surfaces.-Relates to a combined peg-top, whipping-top, and hand-top. The top is made in three parts a, b, c which, when nested in one another in the order shown, form a peg-top, the peg f screwing into all three parts and holding them together. Each part is provided with an iron sleeve g screwed internally for the reception of the peg. The part a alone, when provided with a short peg, forms a top for spinning by hand. To convert the top into a whipping-top, the parts are assembled with the part c nested in the space between the parts a, b, a short peg screwed into the sleeves g holding the parts together.
