Abstract

4873. Kershaw, A. G., Haywood, T. E., and Saxby &. Farmer. Feb. 25. Hand-levers and hand gearing, interlocking.- The locking - tappet 6 is linked to a lever 4 pivoted at 5 on the hand-lever and coupled to the catch-rod 3. When the catch-rod is raised, the tappet is given an initial locking movement and the lever 4 is positioned so that during the subsequent movement of the hand-lever the pin 8 passes the line between pins 5, 9 and practically no movement is imparted to the tappet. Thereafter, the release of the catch-rod causes a further locking movement of the tappet in the same direction as the first. The mechanism is shown in other forms adapted for operating tappets in other positions.
