Abstract

4034. Young, W. L. Feb. 17. Leakage, preventing. -The spindle of a screw - actuated stop p valve is provided with an internal sealing- collar to prevent leakage. In the form shomn in Fig. 1, which shows the application to a check feed - valve, the actuating-spindle a is provided with a flat or conical sealing - collar held against a corresponding seat on the casing by a nut c screwed on to the spindle and adapted to bear against a washer d having a D-shaped aperture. The valve spindle h has a screwed part b adapted to engage an internal screw on the spindle a, and is fitted with a cross-bar f arranged to co-operate with flats on the body to prevent rotation. The application of the invention to a hydrant valve, and to a sluice valve of the type described in Specification 16,008/12, is also described. According to the Provisional Specification, an ordinary stuffing- box may be fitted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 3225/67, 8147/84, 13,550/88, and 7413/95.
