Abstract
3077. Maschinenfabrik Johannisberg Ges. June 23, 1913, [Convention date]. Tripping-arrangements. - A rotary printing- machine is constructed with a stationarilymounted impression cylinder beneath which the printing-cylinder is arranged in such a manner that it can be tripped from the impression cylinder to a slight extent by cam - operated eccentrics controlled bv a treadle, or when the printing - cylinder is to be removed from the machine a greater depression can be given it by means of a hand-operated lever. As shown, the printing-cylinder 2 is normally pressed into contact with impression cylinder 1 by means of springs 7 supported by sliding members 8 acting on pins 6 fitted with set-screws 5 acting on bearing-blocks 3 in which the cylinder 2 is mounted. The members 8 are connected by links 11 to eccentrics 9, which are normally kept in the position shown by the engagement of a projection 12 with a fixed stop 13. To trip the cylinder 2, a treadle 25 is operated, causing a tooth 16<b> on one eccentric 9 to be engaged by a double pawl 18 on a member 17 which is oscillated on a concentric portion of one of the eccentrics. The cylinder 2 remains tripped until the treadle 25 is released, whereby the pawl 18 engages the tooth 16<a> to throw the impression on again. The extent to which the cylinder is depressed by the eccentrics 9 is controlled by a stop 15 on a lever 14, which is normally held by a stop-lever 26 against a pin 27. When the cylinder 2 is to be entirely removed from its bearings, the lever 14 is moved to the left, after tripping the cylinder by the treadle 25, and the eccentrics 9 are moved thereby to such an extent that the cylinder 2 is depressed to a greater extent than the radius of its trunnions so that it can be removed from the machine without touching the cylinder 1.
