2260. Lytle, J. Jan. 28. Handles.-In a tool for poisoning weeds, the hollow handle forms a holder for a cartridge of poison and is adapted to be rotated to open a valve for the escape of the poison. The handle 7 fits into the cylindrical upper part of the weedpiercing blade, and corresponding plates fixed in the handle and socket part are loosely connected together by a stud 11 and lock nuts. By partially rotating the handle against the action of a spring 16 corresponding holes in the two plates are made to register to form a discharge outlet. A pin 18 forms a stop to limit the rotary movement, and projects into the handle to break up the poison. The handle is provided with a curved inclined plate 19, with a wooden stopper, and with a projecting guard piece 20. Specification 24,816/12 is referred to.
